Traditions are Full of Love

Last week Shimelle Laine posted on UK Scrappers a Start to Finish featuring a vertical set of photos and limited patterned paper for a layout.

I joined in on this challenge and grabbed some of my scraps to work on accenting up the layout. I grabbed a 1” strip of black cardstock and cut down a strip from Crate Paper Restoration Collection “Fringe” to accents the side of the photos.

After adhering down the three photos from Christmas 2008, the next step was to add all the die cut accents. I grabbed a large ledger die cut from Jenni Bowlin, a polaroid and Polaroid camera from DCWV Snapshot stack, as well as a mason jar from Dear LIzzy Neapolitan Collection. I then added a bit more of fun with washi tape, Jillibean Soup labels, punched tags, a corrugated cardboard arrow sprayed with Red Velvet Glimmer Mist and twine tied around the mason jar.

I chose Traditions are Full of Love as these photos showed more than just another Christmas to me. They reminded me of our adult traditions with having Christmas at my mother’s house and I wanted to share that story before anything changed in our lives as my brother and sister are now out of college and who knows where things will go over the next few years.

This layout came together really well with the instructions that Shimelle gave at UK Scrappers and has been one that I used again on another layout that I totally forgot to take photos of.

Have you ever reused a sketch? Do you have some that you default to over and over again? What makes you enjoy using them?
