Friday Features: My Favorite Things

Wow, a week has passed since I have last posted. I have been so engaged in working with a Math Collaborative group for Region 10 and it is taking up a lot of my time. I am almost done with my training that is this summer and I promise I will get things back to somewhat normal.

This week, I thought I would share some of my favorite things. They are all over the spectrum so bare with me.

1. Perfect Hair Ties (Neutrals)– I purchased these about a month back to try them out because I am SO tired of snapping a pony tail holder because my THICK hair puts too much tension on it. I sent a convo to answer my questions about them and she was super quick to reply. I also tried the headband but due to having a SUPER BIG head, it doesn’t work on me. Definitely will be ordering more of these hair ties in the NEAR future!

2. Water Drops Necklace by Urban Gipsy– I am LOVING this necklace and have it in my favorites over on Etsy and definitely see it (or one of the others in her shop) coming home to me soon.

3. 8 Color Mechanical Pencil by PentelWhat the what? Earlier this week, I found red lead at Target by Pentel in the packs with regular lead and I knew I had to do more research. I am totally getting this for my classroom so that I can use in our Interactive Notebooks! Love school supplies!

4. Little Library Card Notebook– I think these are UBER cute! I totally want to have one in my purse as well as maybe make them for my students for various times in the year. You always need something write on. LOVE THEM!

5. Washi Tape Calendars– Such a cute idea and I can’t wait to take some of my tapes to school and make my calendars all pretty! :)

Creative Favs! Friday Features 6/29

If you looked at the last 5 items that you created, would you find similarities throughout them all? Are there items you are grabbing each and every time that you know you couldn’t scrap/create without? Today I want to focus on the scrapbook related items that I am ALWAYS grabbing in my layouts or cards.

Twine from The Twinery– I have mentioned how much I love their twine many times before. I will say it again, it’s awesome! Not only are there many colors to choose from but the weight of this twine is like no other. It’s definitely thicker and I can tell it’s going to stand up to use on my layouts and fondling of the cards that I create.

Memento Tuxedo Black Ink Pad– This is my GO TO ink for everything! I love that it is quick to dry, permanent and will work with my Copics when I am stamping and coloring as well. Very rich black color and never fails me!

Uniball Signo White Gel Pen– This is my favorite pen ever! I use these so much (and so fast) that they don’t have time to dry out on me like so many other gel pens do. These come in many great colors and are all just as good. I have the green, red, navy, silver and gold as well and they rock!

Folk Art Whicker White Acrylic Paint– This is my favorite, cheap, white acrylic paint. It’s the perfect white color, has a great thickness, is easily watered down when needed and goes on great as a base coat or a stencil paint. Very versatile!

Adhesive Tape Glider (or ATG)– I have two different ATGs and love them both. I keep one loaded with Acid Free tape while the other is loaded with General Purpose which is what I use on cards and the like.

Glossy Accents– A definite, hands down must have while scrapping! This works as more than just a wet glue, it’s a dimensional addition as well as adds gloss to your embellishments. Perfection in a bottle!

Tim Holtz Serrated Scissors by Tonic– I am on my 2nd pair of these scissors because the hubs decided they worked so well for his usage that I had to replace them in my scrap area. I am not shy to say that they are very multi-purpose and are used by so much around the house as well as my scrapping.

Tonic Guillotine Trimmer– I guess you can say that I am a Tonic fan because this was a big purchase for me and I don’t regret it one bit. I actually went out and purchased the 12” Guillotine Trimmer as well after having this one for a few years. I love them both and can’t wait to have the space again to use my larger one.

Tim Holtz Craft Pick by Tonic– This retractable craft pick is perfect for making that hole for a brad, handsewing or getting rid of die cut waste. It’s also great for de-gunking the Glossy Accents bottle. Shh, don’t tell!

Silhouette Cameo– This is my most recent tool purchase and I am so glad that I did! I love the fact that I can create like crazy and then cut it all out together and so fast! The accuracy and detail that this machine provides is amazing. Best of all the subscription I got to the online Silhouette store has rocked my socks off! Definitely worth every penny!

Whew! Now that I have shared my top ten with you, what are some of your scrapbook must haves? Link me up to something you have to scrap/create with so I can check them out myself! I always can use something else in my scrapping arsenal!

Inspiring Bloggers {Friday Features for June 22}

This week I want to focus on inspiring bloggers. When I think of inspiring bloggers I mean those that I read daily without fail, and some might even say stalk. LOL! {Disclaimer: These are not listed in any particular order.}

1. Shimelle Laine– Shimelle is a wealth of inspiration and with her weekly starting points and other posts, she is constantly on top of things to inspire me to create something new.

2. Christine Newman– Christine is an amazingly sweet woman who I “met” through contributing to Everyday Storyteller. Here posts are inspiring in their own right as she follows a very clean yet fun style in her scrapbooking and it makes me want to stretch what I do a bit more.

3. Ashli Oliver– Many of you know her as soapHOUSEmama and she is a total HOOT! We quickly became online friends (and text and GTalk) a few months back and I totally admire all that she has been able to accomplish in the scrapbooking world in the LESS THAN A YEAR of scrapbooking! Totally amazing!

4. Lisa Truesdell– Lisa is the washi and stamping queen in my book! She rocks out Studio Calico each month and I am totally amazed by what she can create with paper, glue and stamps!

Yea, I’m stopping with 4 or I would have to go to 10 and then it would be 15 and so on. I love all the great inspiration in blog world.

Who is a blogger that you follow that inspires you?

Friday Features: Inspiration Overload

This week as we wind down our last week of school, I am looking for new ways to inspire myself as the summer months take over. I want to share with you a few that I have found this week that I think you might enjoy as well.

1. Camp Scrap with May Flaum From June 11 through June 27, May will be sharing various new things on her blog in a FREE online class. All are welcome to attend and participate in the discussion board at Big Picture Classes.

2. Studio Calico Stamp School– This was just released today but TOTALLY inspiring! I can’t wait to sign up and get in on learning some new stamping tricks. LOVE the exclusive stamp set as well!

3. Inspired by Shimelle Challenge– This challenge continues to amaze me. All of the participants have created amazing things and it has taken on a life of it’s own. Look for another post about the amazing things I have learned from this challenge as well as others in the near future. And of course, the linky for the projects is at the end of this post.

Not many this week but it is what is inspiring me.

What is inspiring you? Leave a link so I can check it out!

Friday Features: May 18th Edition

This week I am all about the new products that are coming out. I have been adding to my imaginary cart like crazy and I can’t wait to get to shopping. I have been using up so much of my stash and it’s just eating away at me to want more. :)

1. Echo Park Sweet Day Collection– Oh my heck when this hit the net this week, I was amazed! The light colors are great for just about anything and the Polaroid paper has to be my favorite! MUST GRAB SOON!

2. This is the Best Stamp– I saw this stamp this week on Etsy and I am in love! I totally am going to have to get this and can see it on so many things from my scrapbooks, to cards, to even packages that I mail out.

3. Quilts and Hearts Flair– Loving these buttons and need to break down soon and get me some! I love the patterns in these and I can see putting a rub-on on the top to customize a greeting. So fun! :)

4. Red Box Geometric Washi Tape– I grabbed three new rolls of tape this past weekend from InTheClear on Etsy and I was able to swap out this one for one of the ones in a set. I am in love with this pattern and it’s finding it’s way into many of my recent layouts. Super fast shipment and so cutely packaged! Definitely will do business with again.

5. Dylusions Ink Spray- Fresh Lime– I just got this in about a week ago and was able to play with it last night on a layout for Cover to Cover. I love the coverage it provides is amazing and so full of color. I tested it on kraft and it didn’t blend in but rather actually popped off the page. Click here to see the layout.

What have you been drooling over lately? Have you given in and hit purchase?

Friday Features- April 13th Edition

Welcome to another week of Friday Features! I am so excited to bring some new fun things to you this week after not being able to do so last week. Without further ado…

1. Studio Calico Mr. Huey! I am in love with this man! He has changed my life when it comes to misting. I love how quickly it dries as well as the opaque look of it. Water Cooler was the first color I bought and I just added Pinstripe to the mix this week. I think some bright colors are on the horizon next.

(c) MelBlackburn on 2Peas

2. This AMAZING layout by MelBlackburn on 2Peas. I love her use of textures and layers. I must scraplift this some time soon!

(c) LiveTeachCreate

3. Texana Designs Stamps– I was introduced to these awhile back but was able to get the chance to use them when I took the trip down to Stamp Salado. I also purchased two of them while I was there that day and was so excited to play with them this past weekend and make the card above. These stamps are SO crisp and I am hoping to get some more in cling mount soon (you have the option in their Etsy Shop)

4. Numbered Cubbies DIY– I am loving these cubbies and have printed out the directions. I think that they would look amazing in the kitchen of our new cabin to hold spices, etc. or in my studio for organization.

5.– If you haven’t checked out soapHOUSEmama’s blog, you are MISSING OUT! She is an amazing mixed media scrapbooker who I am constantly inspired from. I have learned many new things from her as well branched outside my shell of being a linear, straight line scrapper and adding in some FUN! She continues to amaze me! In fact, so much so that I scraplifted a layout from her earlier this week and recreated it in my own way. Hubby even loved this one because of how FUN it was! She is also a fellow contributor in Everyday Storyteller!
