Start to Finish: Just a Peek….

Recently Glitter Girl issued a challenge to scrap about yourself. I have been working on finishing up our wedding album and the next story that I was working on was one about before our wedding and I was peeking out of the tent that was set up for me to be “housed in” since we were out in a public park and I didn’t want to be seen.

First up, I needed to grab the scraps that I wanted to work with. I grabbed a sheet of paper from the recent collection of goodies that I purchased. It’s a small pink plaid print (can’t remember the collection and brand right now) and then grabbed scraps that I had recently cut up and made them work for what I needed. I knew that I was going to be cutting some of them down in a few moments.

Setting aside the scraps, I grabbed my Opaque White Mister Huey and started splattering across the page in a diagonal line. Time to set that aside to dry.

Now, I grabbed the 10” x 5 ½” sheet of Heidi Swapp Color Magic paper that I had cut down. I inked it up with Worn Lipstick and Victorian Velvet Distress Inks to go with the pink feel of the background paper.

Ooh, I like that! But it needs something else…

Grabbed the Picket Fence Distress Stain and went over the top of things and then rubbed off the excess. Much better!

Next up, I grabbed my chicken wire stamp by Tim Holtz and with stamped it in various places on the layout to add some more background layers.

Now we are getting somewhere.

Time to start layering… first up goes the big strip of Color Magic paper.

Now time to start adding more pieces of the scraps. I used the tear strip from the bottom of the background paper to create a small banner as part of my layers.

Now for photo placement.

Grabbed some pink ruffled velvet ribbon that I adhered across the bottom of the photo and flanked with two large rhinestone brads. It still needs more….

The twine makes it awesome! Wrapped it around a few times and tied it off.

Time to start embellishing, I grab a doily, a flash card from Elle’s Studio, and a cut out mason jar from the Dear Lizzy collection. Added the rest of the title with some Thickers. LOVE!

Now time to embellish the bottom right corner. I grab my 1 ½” circle punch and punch a circle from the stripe paper on the embellishment sheet in the Dear Lizzy 6×6 paper pad. I also punch a 1” circle from the flowers on that same sheet. I then grab my Labels Punch and got a large label from the polka dots and laid it all out. I used the same technique of tying off a clear button with twine and painting the back for this layout since I didn’t have the right color button. I used the bit of journaling lines to add a bit of a subtitle.

Last up was to fill in the jar with my journaling and VOILA it’s done! As of this layout I only have 10 more to create for our wedding album and it will be complete! I will have more to show in the coming days.
