Start to Finish: Playtime Tag/Bookmark

Last week as a part of Camp Scrap, May talked about how when she gets new supplies, she likes to take time and just play. I had just gotten in the Summer Distress Inks by Tim Holtz and the Crafters Workshop Mini Fish Scales stencil. It was a match made in heaven and a perfect reason to just play!

First up, let’s secure that stencil down on the tag where I want it. I just washi tape to hold it in place. You can also use painter’s tape. Works great for cleanup!

Next up, I grabbed three colors of coordinating paints. I have an aqua, lime green and a violet. They aren’t exact matches to the Summer Distress Inks but work well for this.

Pulled the stencil up and now to wait for paint to dry… always the fun part!

Time to get inky! Grab a Ink Applicator and just work into the tag in random patches. You can’t go wrong with this, I promise!

While working, I decided this needed some more depth and layers. I grabbed a stamp from Purple Onion and Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and stamped randomly. I like that!

Of course I had to add some pen work. Grabbed that Uniball Signo pen and went around the scales and made them pop!

Of course, I couldn’t leave that alone so I added a coat of Pearl paint over the entire tag. It totally made things super shiny!

Now, it’s done! Just added a bit of twine and gave it to a friend to use as a bookmark! Love how simple this was to create and just getting out there to play!
