Quite The Pear

Last week when I was at Michael’s, I took some time to dig through the clear $1 stamps and found this stamp that I just fell in love with. I had an idea for it before I even left the store.

I pulled out the Card Patterns Sketch Challenge to give starting point for this challenge. I stamped the two pears {after cutting them apart} on cream colored cardstock in Forest Moss and Shabby Shutters Distress Ink. I doodled around the edges and added some Recollection green rhinestones to the left hand corner. I double matted this square with brown cardstock and a piece of green Basic Grey cardstock from my scraps.

Knowing that I don’t have a ton of green patterns in my stash, I went to my scraps first for the bottom part of the card. I pulled out the same Basic Grey patterned paper that I had backed the image with and cut down a 1” strip of it for the card. After I cut that down, I then used the remaining part to punch along the remaining part of the strip with the EK Success Diamond Lace border punch and adhered it on top of the brown cardstock.

I added some more rhinestones in the valleys of the scallops and then covered the seam in the cardstock with some green velvet ric rac type trim that I just stapled on with my Tim Holtz Tiny Attacher.

I originally wanted my sentiment on the left hand side but because the rhinestones were there it made it to where I couldn’t get the sentiment down just right. I just decided to move it to the other side and stamp it down with Forest Moss Distress Ink.

At the last minute I decided to decorate the inside of the card as well. I used more of the scraps from the same papers and a bit more of the ribbon. I wanted to use the sentiment again and so I did a 2nd Generation stamping with the Forest Moss Ink as I wanted it a bit lighter.

Once I finished this card and it wasn’t totally lovey, as I had originally intended, I decided that it was more of a friends type of card and therefore it also is being submitted to the Card Crafter’s Circle Challenge.

As always, my cards are regularly uploaded to my Etsy shop for purchase. If there is ever a card that you are interested in but the colors are a little off, just let me know and I can create a custom card just for you at no extra charge.
