If I Only Had a Maid…

A few weeks ago, Heather from Melonheadz Illustrations, created this adorable digi image of a maid and sign that I immediately downloaded and printed out for future use. I seriously loved the humor of it all and knew I needed to create with it in the near future.

When I originally saw the Sketch Saturday Challenge for this week, it totally stumped me as I was focusing on the diamond and just freakin’ out! I quickly decided, I don’t have to use that shape and can change it as I want. So first thing I did was rotate the sketch 90 degrees clockwise and built up from there.

I colored in my little maid and wanted to go traditional colors so it is a mix of Copic C3, C7, 100 for the maid’s uniform. Her hair is simply created with E35 and E37 and her skin is E000, E00 and E01. I went around the edges of the maid and created a shadow with BG10 which was a total impulse purchase thanks to Libby and Leslie! {Thanks ladies!} Totally easy and done!

I pulled out some of my scraps from various paper pads {chevron- My Mind’s Eye Lime Twist, floral- Crate Paper Farmhouse and yellow strips- Lily Bee Designs scrap}.I backed the two larger blocks with cardstock that was totally in the scrap bag. I am enjoying being able to use up a lot of the scraps each time I am working on cards. Totally makes me feel like I am using the most of a piece of a paper.

After seeing what colors I was planning on using, I then pulled out my R22 Copic marker and colored in the outline of the sentiment that went along with the maid. Totally loved it and then counted it as done once I adhered it all together. I added the pink rhinestones from Kaiser Craft and love them as well. I didn’t like the stark corners in the top so I rounded the corners with my Corner Chomper.

If you saw my plea the other day about 5” square envelopes, I am totally still looking for some. I need to not only get the envelope but also the clear bags to store them in. If you know of a great store that offers both, please let me know. I don’t make many so I don’t need a huge quantity {at this time at least}.
