Deconstructed Layers…

This week’s Deconstructed Sketch was definitely a challenge as some of the layers were larger than what I could cut width wise with my Cricut so I just played around a bit to get what I like. I also flipped the sketch 90 degrees counter-clockwise before I began working with it.

First thing I did was cut the Kraft cardstock to A2 size (5 ½” x 8 ½”) and then folded it in half. The brown cardstock is cut at 4 1/8” x 5 3/8” and the cream is cut at 4” x 5 ¼”. The brown cardstock is inked in Brushed Corduroy and the cream cardstock is inked in Pumice Stone Distress Ink.

After choosing the Crate Paper Farmhouse Collection for my card, I looked at each piece from the sketch and cut them at the following: Polka Dots (1 1/2” x 3 ¾” and inked in Broken China); Orange Scallop (1” x 3 ¾” after punched with Diamond Lace Edge Punch and inked in Spiced Marmalade); Blue Floral (2” x 3 ¾” and inked in Broken China); and White Floral (3” x 3 ¾” and inked in Pumice Stone).

The cut little owl on the branch is from the CTMH Pair-A-Phrase My Acrylix stamp set (retired) and the sentiment is from CTMH Say It In Style My Acrylix in Memento Ink Tuxedo Black. I colored in the image with various markers from my Bic Ultra Fine set and also drew an edge around the label cut with the CTMH Cricut Art Philosophy Cartridge. I then inked up the label with Wild Honey Distress Ink and cut off the edge of it that would tuck under the ribbon.

After adhering down the label, I tied a bow with the olive green satin ribbon and glued it down with Glossy Accents. I then also added the three pearls to the lower right hand corner and called it done.

I appreciate all the great sketches that are put out there in blog land and love playing along with them each week. What about you? Is there a blog challenge that you enjoy playing with each week?
